Dasi-Ziyad Family Institute and Surely U Can present Black Marriage Day Cleveland 2013 on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Kingdom Connected Family Worship Center, 860 Northfield Road, Bedford, OH 44146 from 5:00-7:30 p.m.
At this event, which is Free and Open to the Public, Clevelanders will join other Black families and couples all over the United States to celebrate Black Marriage. Why? One of the scariest phenomenon today is the breakdown of the family. And marriages, especially Black marriages, are becoming more and more endangered. Issues about finance, communication, resolving conflict, parenting and values systems can cause serious problems in marriage. But there is help to be had! There are skills people can learn and commitments they can make to have successful marriages. Healthy marriages mean healthy families and healthy families mean healthy societies. And we know that children thrive when their mother and father raise them together in healthy unions.
This is the 11th year such a nationwide celebration takes place and the theme this year is “Marriage Changes Things.” Couples can renew or re-affirm their vows, they will learn new relationship skills, hear from local marriage educators and learn about resources to strengthen their marriages and families. People will find out where to go to get help BEFORE marriage. Couples who get premarital education tend to have happier, more long-lasting marriages.
Couples (those married and/or thinking about marriage) and families in the greater Cleveland area are invited to participate in Black Marriage Day Cleveland. Join us in fun, interactive relationship activities. Couples who register to re-affirm their vows will get Marriage Tips and Tools, Cake, Refreshment, gifts, network with other couples and find out about local resources to strengthen their families.
